Local Job Market

<<Back

Local job market information is also known as ‘Labour Market Information’ (LMI).

LMI will provide you with information about: -

  • different occupational groups
  • where particular job opportunities are on the increase
  • the skills that are needed to get into these jobs
  • how easy or hard it will be to get into your chosen job.

Accurate LMI about pay levels, job security and local job prospects can help you make realistic and informed career decisions.

LMI can also help you to identify the skills you might need to develop in the future as, even with the most familiar occupations such as administration, job tasks and job titles are changing and developing as products and technology change and develop.

Below you will find some local LMI factsheets about different occupational areas containing information about: -

  • What are the jobs
  • Where are the jobs
  • Work hours and pay
  • Skills employers are looking for
  • Shortage areas
  • Qualifications needed
  • What’s happening in West Yorkshire
  • Future trends
  • Where to go for further information

The LMI factsheets have been highly praised by the UK's leading research and management consultancy.  Stephen Bevan, Director of Research at 'The Work Foundation' (formerly 'The Industrial Society') described the factsheets as 'spot on' and 'really very good' in their content and scope and 'as good as we could do'.
