The Train to Gain IAG Development Project is a regional project to support learning providers in their delivery of first full level 2 provision to employees by developing their awareness of, and their capacity to deliver or outsource, quality IAG. This regional project is led by Careers West Yorkshire and involves four nextstep services in Yorkshire and Humberside. It is funded by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC) in Yorkshire and the Humber.
IAG – a definition
Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) is a career and learning support service, enabling career development and progression. Click here for a more detailed definition of IAG.
Through the Train to Gain IAG project, experienced IAG Development Advisers across the region are leading on:-
- Bringing consistency and quality to the delivery of IAG in Train to Gain
- Promoting and sharing best practice
- Offering training and support
- Helping to engage employers
- Providing alternative and innovative ways to deliver information and advice to learners in the workplace.

Learners' Guide
Produced in consultation with learning providers, this A4 workbook is designed to support learners through their learning experience. It helps them to understand how their learning benefits both them and their employer, and their opportunities for progression. It is recommended that the trainer/assessor/adviser supports the learner to complete it. The workbook steers the trainer/assessor/adviser through what is required under IAG within Train to Gain.
